 |
| Question |
Could you tell me more about
aliasing? |
| Answer |
DIR (Directory) Aliasing: If you want
different domain names to point to different directories
of your web site (share the same webspace), then you
need DIR Aliasing. For DIR aliases, we assign a unique
IP address and create a folder in your root directory,
as the home directory of DIR Alias. FTP connections
and emails are still routed to your main domain. Remember
that FrontPage extensions do not work for DIR alias
accounts.
Ex: http://www.newdomain.com points to http://www.primary.com/newdomain
but in browsers shows http://newdomain.com. Emails
sent to joe@newdomain.com is routed to joe@primary.com
Domain (DNS) Aliasing: By typing your new address
(http://www.newdomain.com) in the browser your visitors
go automatically to your primary web site (http://www.primary.com).
This redirection is performed at the Domain Name
Server level and does not involve any CGI script.
It's fast, reliable and will work with any web browser.
Domain Alias does not change your existing address
or web site in any way. Furthermore, since the Domain
Alias is implemented on the Domain Name Server, not
only http and FTP connections are forwarded to your
domain name, but also your emails are delivered to
your mailbox in your primary domain name.
For example, if you send an email to joe@newdomain.com,
your emails will be delivered to joe@primary.com .
Sub Domain:A sub-domain is like directory aliasing
with the exception that instead of http://www.newdomain.com
pointing to http://www.primary.com/newdomain, this
time http://newdomain.primary.com points to http://www.primary.com/newdomain.
Basically, the difference is that you do not need
to register another domain name but instead you choose
a sub-domain. For sub-domains, we assign another IP
address and assign a directory in your domain as the
home directory of your sub-domain's web site.
There are limitations to selecting Sub-domain, Domain
and DIR aliasing. You will not have your own email
account associated with the alias domain, and will
instead be set up under the primary domain. You will
also not be able to access the site to upload via
FTP, and would need to do so either through the primary
domain, or set up an additional FTP user, at additional
expense. There are also no log files. It is recommended
that resellers interested in parceling out their account
consider setting up separate accounts for their customers.
Otherwise, when the site under a DIR alias has grown
enough, the switch over to a full account will result
in downtime and delay.
Alias domains do not have their own FrontPage Server
Extensions. They only have their own virtual web server.
You have to manage them through your main domain. |

| Question |
How does CGI work ? |
| Answer |
CGI programs are programs that actually
execute on the web server, not on the client's computer.
They retrieve data that was sent from user input,
manipulate it, and then return a message to the browser.
CGI programs can be written in almost any computer
programming language, as long as that language will
execute on the server that it resides on. Our servers
support ASP (active server pages), VB Script and the
32 bit Windows.exe files created by C/C++ and Visual
Basic.
edenproduction.com does not support Perl. |
 |
| Question |
What language do CGIs need
to be in ? |
| Answer |
We support CGI scripts in Active Server
Pages, VB Script and any (.exe) script |

support? |
| Answer |
No, but you can convert your Perl Scripts
to .EXE files which you can use in your cgi-bin directory.

| Question |
What is the SSL? Why is it
required? |
| Answer |
For an excellent resource on SSL basics,
please go to http://www.verisign.com/site/ssl.html.
Information sent from one computer to another computer
can pass through numerous other computers before it
reaches the destination. These intermediary computers
can monitor and replace the information that we are
sending. So to safeguard privacy, we encrypt information
before we send it over the Internet. So the encrypted
data is meaningless for these intermediary persons
and also if the data is changed , the intended recipient
will know it was altered. SSL is a protocol used for
this encryption purpose.
The Certification Authorities (CA) issues certificates.
A certificate is a file that contains certain identifying
information. The file is signed with the CA's private
key to guarantee its authenticity. Both clients and
servers can have certificates. When a server sends
its certificate to a client, the process is called
server authentication. When a client sends a certificate
to a server, the process is called client authentication.
Both the browser and the server use an SSL security
handshake (exchange of certificates) to initiate a
secure TCP/IP connection. The client and server agree
on the level of security they will use and how to
fulfill authentication requirements for their connection.
After the handshake, the only role of SSL is to encrypt
and decrypt the WWW service byte stream. The WWW service
and the Web browser encrypt all the information in
both request and response, including:
- The URL the client is requesting
- Any submitted form contents, such as credit card
numbers
- Any WWW service user names and passwords.
- All data the server sends back to the client

We specialize in Virtual Web Hosting
which means that you can find a home for your web
site on our web servers and establish a presence on
the Internet. We can help register your own domain

 |
| Question |
Will I be able to access my
domain name with or without "www"? |
| Answer |
Yes, you will be able to access the

| Question |
Does edenproduction.com allow
adult sites? |
| Answer |
No, edenproduction.com does not permit
the hosting of any sexually explicit materials, whether
graphical, textual, video, audio, encrypted, protected,
proprietary, or in any other formats. While we are
committed to the protection of free speech of our
clients, we cannot permit sexually explicit material
on our web servers for many reasons. We object to
the hosting of adult content principally for the resource
problems that it places on our systems, i.e. unpredictable
bandwidth consumption and potential degradation on
service levels for other customers. Generally, adult
sites can create an unexpected degree of resource
demands upon a web server, potentially jeopardizing
the security of all other customers hosted on that
particular segment. |
 |
| Question |
Does edenproduction.com allow
"bulk email"? |
| Answer |
No, edenproduction.com does not allow
the Email POP3 accounts or the edenproduction.com™
Email Servers to be used for the purpose of sending
unsolicited or "bulk email". The reasons for this
are quite numerous but the main problem involves the
security of our Web and email servers against retaliatory
flames, so called email "bombs", and various attacks,
that such use would inevitably generate. While we
make every effort to secure our servers from these
kinds of attacks, if we were to permit our clients
to engage in "bulk email" practices we would jeopardize
the security and integrity of the email and Web services
for all our clients. |
 |
| Question |
What can I do if I am having
problems signing up for hosting? |
| Answer |
Please send an email to edensales@edenproduction.com. The
application will then be processed. Be sure to provide
an alternate email address other than the one associated
with your domain name. |
 |
| Question |
How do I prepay my account? |
| Answer |
All customers are provided with various
payment term options when they sign up for service.
Accounts can either be paid monthly, quarterly, semiannually
or annually. If a customer commits to pay annually
(12 months), they will receive two (2) additional
months* of free service (13th and 14th month). Customers
may choose to change their billing terms at anytime
from their Control Panel.
Since some services provided are usage based (i.e.
Disk Space and Data Transfer), they are charged in
arrears at the beginning of the month following the
month they were incurred. For example, if your service
plan included 5GB of transfer and you used 7GB during
the month, you will be responsible for the additional
2GB at the beginning of the next month. If you cancel
your account, you will still be responsible for any
additional usage that is incurred. |

| Answer |
No, PST is not charged to any customers |
 |
| Question |
If I pay in advance and I cancel
will I receive the remaining balance? |
| Answer |
Yes. Since all fees are charged at
the beginning of each month, any cancellations will
be effective as of the end of that month. If your
account has been paid in advance and a credit remains
on your account, we will refund you the remaining
credit.
|
 |
| Question |
Why is my credit card being
declined? |
| Answer |
A credit card can be declined for multiple
reasons. To correct the problem, please contact your
credit card company. There have been many fraudulent
charges recently and credit card companies have become
more cautious about all Internet-based transactions.
These processes have been added to protect you, but
in some cases can create inconveniences such as the
need to verify some transactions.
Contact your credit card company directly to discuss
this situation. If the problem is related to verifying
the transaction, explain who edenproduction.com (Eden
Production ) is and verify that the transaction is
valid. In some cases, you might need to authorize
Internet-based mail orders to ensure that you are
not inconvenienced in the future.
We appreciate your understanding in this matter.
